Pilbara Traffic officers stopped a vehicle being driven at 165km/hr on the North West Coastal Highway, between Karratha and Mardie, yesterday afternoon, Thursday 25 August 2016. About 3:40pm they detected a Honda Accord sedan being driven above the speed limit in Mardie. It will be alleged the vehicle was being driven at 165km/hr in the 110km/hr speed zone, WA Police say. The vehicle was stopped and the driver spoken to. A 76 year old man from Hilton will be summonsed to court in relation to the alleged reckless manner of his driving. Due to the remoteness of the location he was issued a Surrender Notice for his vehicle, which requires him to surrender his vehicle in the next 7 days, at which point it will be impounded for 28 days.
