Renewed search for man missing on Far South Coast, NSW

Police and volunteers are again searching forest on the Far South Coast today, for a man who went missing a month ago, NSW Police say.

Mr Raymond Speechley, 77, was last seen about 4pm on Thursday 7 July 2016, at a retirement home on Ruth Place, Dalmeny, about 10km north of Narooma.

Despite extensive searches and appeals via the media, Mr Speechley has not been seen since.

Officers from the Far South Coast Local Area Command conducted an extensive search of the area with assistance from the Volunteer Rescue Association, State Emergency Service, Rural Fire Service and Westpac Lifesaver helicopter.

More than 90 people are on the ground today, from the same organisations as before, as well as trail bike and horse riders.

They are focusing on an area of forest near Dalmeny; this area has been searched previously. Police have also organised another doorknock of the local residential areas in an effort to gather any information about Mr Speechley’s whereabouts.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 175cm tall, with a medium build, grey hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing jeans and a dark jacket with a pyjama top underneath.

An earlier appeal about a small car seen in the area at the time has failed to produce any further information.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
