Russian 5-year-olds dig out of kindergarten to buy luxury car

In Russia, two 5-year-olds have managed to dig their way out of their kindergarten using toy spades before heading to a nearby luxury car dealership to buy a Jaguar.

As the Komsomolskaya Pravda reports, the two boys had prepared for the breakout for several days by digging a hole under a property fence in the Ural Mountains city of Magnitogorsk.

Staff had realised the boys were absent after about half an hour when they counted children during a supervised walk in the kindergarten grounds.

A spokesman for the Chelyabinsk regional interior ministry had confirmed the boys' escape.

"We don't have any details yet, we can only confirm the fact itself," the spokesman said, adding the incident had taken place several days ago.

The boys then walked two kilometres to a showroom selling luxury cars.

When approached by a concerned woman near the showroom, the boys said they wanted to buy a car — but don't have enough money.

The woman then drove them to Ordzhonikidze police station.

The head of Magnitogorsk's pre-school department called the incident "a very serious violation".

The supervisor in charge at the time has been fired and the head of the kindergarten was reprimanded. Source: The Moscow Times/the Komsomolskaya Pravda/Agencies
