This project was a 2017 McGowan Labor Government election commitment.

As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

"Belmont City College now has a cutting edge performing arts centre to match the school's fantastic creative arts programs.

"It's vital that we invest in our schools so that students are learning in the best possible environment and can really explore their potential."

As stated by Belmont MLA Cassie Rowe:

"Belmont City College has a fantastic offering of creative arts programs for students, including dance, performing arts and design and visual arts, but they had well and truly outgrown their old facilities.

"This modern venue will give generations of students a purpose-built space to be able to develop their skills and showcase their talents."
