Teen charged over offensive weapon at school in West Kempsey

A teenager has been charged following an incident at a school at West Kempsey yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 11am yesterday, a 15-year-old teenager allegedly entered the grounds of the school on Sea Street and was sighted carrying a drywall hammer.

A teacher stopped the teen, who was not a student of the school, and escorted him off the premises.

The teen returned a short time later with the hammer and allegedly made threats towards a number of students.

Kempsey Police were called to the scene and arrested the teen in Sea Street.

He was taken to Kempsey Police Station and charged with affray and use offensive weapon to commit indictable offence.

The teen was refused bail to appear at a Children’s Court today.
