Teen charged over stabbing, NSW

Police have charged a teenager, after two males were assaulted and another was stabbed, in an incident at Mona Vale overnight, NSW Police say.

About 1am today, several people were waiting outside a fast food shop in Waratah Street.

An argument broke out between the group of people and a male who was trying to enter a closed shop nearby.

Police will allege that during the argument the 17-year-old boy assaulted two of the group and stabbed another twice.

The teenager fled on foot while the injured 19-year-old man was conveyed to Mona Vale Hospital by his friends and police were alerted.

About 1.45am today officers from Northern Beaches Local Area Command were travelling to Mona Vale Hospital when they observed a teenager on the corner of Pittwater Road and Vineyard Street at Mona Vale.

The officers spoke to the teen whose clothing allegedly matched the description of the assailant.

The boy was arrested, handcuffed and searched with officers allegedly locating a knife.

The youth was conveyed to Manly Police Station where he was later charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, being armed with intent to commit serious indictable offence and an outstanding warrant.

He was refused bail to appear at a Children’s Court later today.

The injured man was treated and later allowed to leave hospital.
