Tool Found; Man Arrested After Southbank Burglary

Police have found a tool and arrested a man following a burglary in Southbank early hours this morning.

Officers were called to reports of a burglary in progress at a vacant building near the corner of Kavanagh Street and Southbank Boulevard, about 12.30am.

Police swiftly responded in numbers and arrested a man in possession of a large quantity of copper pipe and a power tool.

It is believed that up to two other men were also involved in the burglary.

Despite a thorough search assisted by the K9 unit, the remaining offenders were not located.

A 45-year-old St Albans man is currently assisting police with enquiries.
