A crime scene has been established after two people were attacked with an axe in Sydney’s inner-west, NSW Police say.
About 2.25am tomorrow, police were called to a service station on Stanmore Road, Enmore, after a man was struck in the head with an axe inside the store.
Police also received reports of a woman being hit by an axe outside the premises.
Officers from Marrickville Local Area Command attended, and located a man, believed to be aged in his 30s, inside the store with a serious head wound.
A woman, believed to be aged in her 40s, was located outside with a more minor injury.
A short time later a woman, believed to be aged in her 20s, was located by police a short distance away and arrested. An axe she had in her possession was seized.
The male and female who were struck by the axe were both taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treatment, they are both understood to be in a stable condition.
The arrested woman has been taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for assessment under police guard.
A crime scene has been established and detectives from Marrickville Local Area Command are making inquiries into the incident.
Early inquiries suggest the parties involved are not known to each other.
