Northern Territory Police are continuing the investigation into the fatal hit & run crash at Nhulunbuy on Sunday morning.
Major Crash and Major Crime detectives are working with local police officers to identify the vehicle and the driver involved. Detectives continue to collect and review CCTV footage in and around Nhulunbuy on Saturday night and Sunday morning.
Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said, "We have received significant assistance from the community in providing us their CCTV. Detectives are systematically collecting and reviewing all CCTV in and around Nhulunbuy from 1.33am, which is when we believe the crash occurred.
"We are awaiting additional CCTV that should help us understand the route the driver travelled after the crash. For all residents in and around Nhulunbuy, including the industrial area, if you had CCTV recording that captures movement of vehicles on any roads and police are yet to speak with you, please contact police so we can make arrangements to review.
"With continued assistance from the community, I remain confident we will identify the vehicle and the offender involved. If you are aware of any vehicle that is now not parked in its usual spot since Saturday night, or is perhaps now parked unusually or covered-up, we're keen to know. Any vehicles that have been repaired since Sunday morning would also be helpful information.
"We have engaged vehicle experts to try and identify the vehicle from the headlights and taillights, and we believe we are closing-in on identifying the vehicle involved. If you were the driver, or know who the driver is, it's still not too late to now do the right thing and contact police."
