Witnesses sought following suspicious building fire in Goulburn

Police are seeking public assistance following a suspicious building fire in Goulburn yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 5.30pm yesterday, police and emergency services were alerted to the fire at an unoccupied building on Mundy Street.

Officers from Fire & Rescue NSW were able to extinguish the blaze, but not before it caused significant damage to the building, which is frequented by squatters and local youths.

Detectives from The Hume Local Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire, which is believed to be suspicious.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the events leading up to the fire to contact Goulburn Police or Crime Stoppers.
