Woman In NSW Charged With Visa Breach

A Sudanese-born woman has appeared in Parramatta Local Court today (10 May, 2024) charged with failing to comply with her visa mandated curfew.

The AFP arrested and charged the woman, 39, after locating her in Parramatta. She was formally refused bail at Parramatta Local Court today and will return to the same court on 17 May, 2024.

It is alleged the woman breached the conditions of her Commonwealth visa on 1 May, 2024, by failing to observe her residential curfew obligations.

The woman has been charged with:

  • One count of failing to comply with a curfew condition, contrary to section 76C(1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).

This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment and a $93,900 fine.
