Woman sexually assaulted at Laverton

Hobsons Bay detectives are appealing for public assistance after a woman was sexually assaulted in Laverton earlier this month, Victoria Police say.

Investigators believe a man followed a woman as she walked from the Laverton Railway Station and along Fitzroy St between 2.45am and 3am on 15 April.

It is believed the man sexually assaulted the 22-year-old woman but then fled when she fought him off and screamed.

Investigators have released images of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, aged between 25-30 years old and about 175cm with dark brown hair.

He was wearing a light button-up shirt with a black vest and black pants.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
