Green Square locals will have a new shopping and dining destination with Zetland home to a weekly fresh produce market from Saturday 30 March.
More than 50 stalls selling farm fresh and organic fruit and vegetables, as well as smoked seafood, baked goods and other gourmet treats, will set up at Green Square plaza every Saturday from 8am to 2pm. Cured meats and cheese stalls will also join the markets from April.
Homewares, fashion pieces and gifts as well as live music and activities for kids will also be at the community markets.
Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore AO, said locals were excited to have a fresh food market in their neighbourhood.
"These markets will bring a small village feel to this increasingly vibrant inner-city community," the Lord Mayor said.
"I'm so proud of the many wonderful community spaces the City has created in Green Square, including 40+ parks, award-winning pools, the stunning library and essential education centres. These markets are another welcome addition to the neighbourhood."
Green Square Market will involve local businesses, organisations and performers and, following a call out for proposals by the City of Sydney, will be run by Cambridge Markets.
A special Christmas market is also planned for Green Square this festive season.
