The Allan Labor Government is continuing to improve language services to better connect communities and support all Victorians to fully participate and thrive in our society.
Minister for Multicultural Affairs Ingrid Stitt today announced four new appointments to the Board of the Victorian Interpreting and Translating Service (VITS) LanguageLoop.
VITS LanguageLoop provides important translating services in over 190 languages, including Aboriginal languages. All nine Board members identify as culturally diverse and speak a language other than English.
The majority of the LanguageLoop are women and it includes representatives from across rural and regional Victoria, as well as young people.
Four new Board members are among the appointments:
Shara Teo is the Chief of Staff at the United Workers Union and Deputy Chair of Gippsland Water
Thu-Trang Tran holds several leadership positions, including as Commissioner of the Victorian Liquor Commission and has held CEO positions for Volunteering Victoria and Volunteer West
Eugene Arocca serves on the Board of Melbourne Health and was previously the CEO of Motorsport Australia
Kushal Shah is a Managing Partner of multi-national management consulting firm DBS Global among other Non-Executive Director positions. He is a chartered accountant (CA).
Professor Kathy Laster AM has been reappointed as Chair after two successful terms. Kathy is a senior legal academic with extensive financial, governance and community service experience.
Noble Tabe has been reappointed for a second term and Cr. Joseph Haweil has been promoted to Deputy Chair. The full list of Board members is available at languageloop.com.au/about-us/board-members.
