Sydney Writers Festival Goes Live at Cessnock City Library

Cessnock City Council and the Sydney Writers' Festival will bring the best of literature, ideas and storytelling straight to Cessnock Library with Live and Local 2024.

Local residents are able to witness some of the world's finest writers and thinkers in thought provoking conversations, debates and discussions without having to travel.

The event will be live-streamed to Cessnock Library from Thursday 23 May to Saturday 25 May.

Highlights from the festival include Julia Baird, Julian Borger, A.C. Grayling, Celest Ng and Trent Dalton.

Library Services Co-ordinator at Cessnock City Library, Rose-marie Walters said it's a fantastic program for all members of the community to be involved in.

"This is a unique opportunity for the people of Cessnock to experience the excitement and intellectual stimulation of the festival right from their home-town," said Ms Walters.

Cessnock City Mayor Jay Suvaal said it's a great way for residents of Cessnock to be able to be involved in major events that happen outside of the region.

"The Live and Local program allows us to offer enriching literacy experiences to our community and I encourage everyone to come along," said Clr Suvaal.

Bookings for this event are essential and can be made by calling the Cessnock Library team on 4993 4399, in person at the library desk, or online via the Library's 'What's On' page.
