Armed robbery in Mackay, QLD

Police are investigating following an armed robbery and attempted armed robbery in Mackay overnight.

At around 11:50pm a man entered a service station on Sydney Street armed with a knife and demanded money from a male staff member. When the staff member refused the man then fled the scene on foot.

Just after 12:00pm the same man entered a convenience store on Bridge Road and demanded money from a male staff member.

The staff member complied, handing over a sum of cash before the man fled the store on foot.

He was last seen entering a small silver sedan at the corner of Brooks and Bridge Street.

No one was physically injured in either incident.

The man is described as having a dark complexion, is around 185cm to 190cm tall and was last seen wearing a black hoodie and a black hat, with dark coloured pants.
