CHRISTMAS SERVICES AT ST PAUL’S CATHEDRAL

Archbishop Philip Freier will lead and preach at Christmas Morning Choral Eucharist at St Paul’s Cathedral, one of eight services to be held there on 24-25 December — two of which will be in Mandarin.

Dr Freier, who is Anglican Primate of Australia as well as Archbishop of Melbourne, will lead the 10am service on 25 December, which will also feature hymns and carols accompanied by the Cathedral Choir and organ.

The Dean of Melbourne, the Very Revd Dr Andreas Loewe, will preach at the First Eucharist of Christmas the previous night at 10pm.

A Children’s Christmas Service, including stories, music and activities, at 3pm on 24 December will open two of the busiest days on the Cathedral calendar. That night, at 11.45pm, a traditional Midnight Mass will be held, with singing led by the Open Door Gospel Singers, directed by Shaun Islip.

Two Mandarin services will be held — at 8pm on Christmas Eve and at 1.30pm on Christmas Day.
