Disqualified driver charged after fleeing crash at Willoughby

A disqualified driver has been charged after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash at Willoughby today.

Just after 7am (Saturday 15 June 2019), a Holden utility and a VW Tiguan were involved in a crash on Artarmon Road.

The driver of the Tiguan, a 79-year-old man, suffered bruising to his ribs and was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for treatment. His eight-year-old passenger suffered minor facial injuries.

The driver of the Commodore allegedly attempted to leave the scene after the crash; however, was stopped by an off-duty police officer.

Officers from North Shore Police Area Command attended and arrested the 28-year-old man, who was disqualified from driving until December 2019.

He was taken to Chatswood Police Station where he was charged with multiple offences, including drive motor vehicle during disqualification period (more than second offence); and resist arrest.

The Merrylands man was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Sunday 16 June 2019).
