A man who escaped custody on Thursday has been arrested after a stabbing incident in Wollongong today, NSW Police say.
About 3.40pm today, police were called to Corrimal Street, Wollongong, following reports a man had been stabbed.
Police from Wollongong Local Area Command attended and found a 52-year-old man with stab wounds to his back and hands.
He was treated by emergency services and taken to Wollongong Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Following inquiries into the incident, police attended a home on Banks Street, Wollongong, when they saw a 43-year-old man leaving the location on foot. He was pursued by officers and was arrested nearby on Church Street.
He has been taken to Wollongong Police Station.
It is expected the man will be charged with a number of offences for today’s incident, an incident last week involving escaping lawful custody and other firearms offences.
