Investigations underway after inner-west robberies, NSW

Police are investigating after two men were robbed in the inner-west overnight, NSW Police say.

About 10.30pm (Wednesday 15 November 2017), a 30-year-old man was standing outside Stanmore Railway Station on Douglas Street, when a vehicle pulled up next to him.

Two men got out of the vehicle, only described as a white station wagon, and attempted to steal the man’s backpack which was on the ground.

The man attempted to keep hold of the bag and during the struggle, was kicked in the head several times by one of the men.

The men were able to grab the bag and left the scene in the white station wagon towards Crystal Street.

He was not seriously injured and did not require medical attention.

About 10.50pm (Wednesday 15 November 2017), a 36-year-old man was walking on Charles Street, Canterbury when a white vehicle pulled up behind him.

Three men got out of the vehicle and stole the man’s mobile phone, wallet and backpack, before they got back into the car and drove off. One of the men was reportedly armed with a knife.

Police from Marrickville and Ashfield Local Area Commands are investigating both incidents, which are believed to be linked.

The three men at Canterbury were described as wearing black hooded jumpers zipped up to cover their mouths, dark pants and dark coloured shoes. All were tall with a thin build and had dark complexions.
