Tenders are now open for construction on two Early Learning for Three Year Olds (EL3) sites in the state's North-West.
The two projects totalling $1.6 million will deliver upgrades to a building at Zeehan Primary School and a new building constructed on the East Devonport Primary School site, which will also help support its Outside School Hours Care Service.
Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said the EL3 initiative was a pivotal part of the Tasmanian Government's commitment to providing early learning opportunities for all children, giving them a strong foundation for life and learning.
"We know that high-quality early learning gives children the best possible start in life, and our Government is delivering for our youngest learners as they begin this lifelong journey," Minister Palmer said.
"As part of our commitment to providing Tasmanian children with access to early learning in the year before Kindergarten, the Government has introduced a number of initiatives, including the EL3 program.
"Feedback has been positive from the four EL3 trials already operating, and we are getting on with the job of delivering more access across the State."
Subject to the outcome of the tender process, construction works at Zeehan and East Devonport are expected to commence in April this year.
The EL3 initiative supports the capacity of Tasmania's Early Childhood Education and Care services to ensure that quality early learning is available where children and families need it.
