NSW police seize over 80kg of cannabis

A man has been charged after police seized more than 80kg of cannabis on the state’s Mid North Coast last week, NSW Police say.

As a result of information received, police attended a property on Old Station Road, Verges Creek, approximately 9km east of Kempsey, about 4.45pm on Tuesday 1 May 2018.

Officers from the Mid North Coast Police District spoke with the 28-year-old male occupant and searched the property.

During the search, officers located three cannabis plants, 84.5kg of cannabis buds and equipment.

The estimated potential street value of the cannabis is $446,000.

Following further inquiries, the 28-year-old man was arrested at Kempsey Police Station, about 4.20pm on Friday 4 May 2018.

He was charged with supply prohibited drug commercial quantity and cultivate prohibited plant.

The man was refused bail and will appear at Kempsey Local Court on Wednesday 18 July 2018.
