One man arrested after car crashes into power pole in Lake Illawarra

A man has been arrested after a car hit a power pole near Shellharbour this morning, NSW Police say.

About 9.20am (Thursday 13 September 2018), a white Holden Commodore, with two occupants, was travelling east on Lake Entrance Road, Mount Warrigal, when it struck a power pole at the intersection of Madigan Boulevarde.

Police will allege the two occupants exited the car and ran from the scene.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District arrived and arrested one of the men nearby.

He has been taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he is currently assisting police with inquiries.

Early investigations at the scene have revealed the registration plates on the Holden had been reported stolen.

A search for the second man continues.
