Police lay charges after woman detained and assaulted by ‘house guest’ at Lithgow

A woman faced court today after another woman was allegedly detained and assaulted at Lithgow last week.

Yesterday (Wednesday 3 July 2019), officers from Chifley Police District commenced an investigation after being notified a 52-year-old woman had been found in the stairwell of the Mort Street complex on Friday (28 June 2019), after being assaulted.

Following inquiries, a 52-year-old woman was arrested at a local hotel about 7pm last night (Wednesday 3 July 2019).

She was taken to Lithgow Police Station and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and detain for advantage.

Police will allege in court, the woman, who had been staying at the home, assaulted the resident before binding her hands and taping her mouth. She then stole her credit card and house keys, before untying and locking the resident out of her home.

The woman appeared at Lithgow Local Court today (Thursday 4 July 2019) and was refused bail to appear at the same court on Thursday 29 August.
