Ride-share driver charged with sexual assault in Bondi

A ride-share driver has been charged with the alleged sexual assault of a teenager in Bondi at the weekend, NSW Police say.

About 1.30am on Sunday 26 August 2018, a 37-year-old man was working as a ride-share driver when he collected three passengers that booked his service from the city.

The 17-year-old female and her two friends were driven to Bondi where her two friends got out. The teen remained in the vehicle as she was being taken to an address at North Bondi.

It’s alleged the driver sexually assaulted the teenager in his vehicle.

The assault was reported to officers at Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command and an investigation was commenced.

About 4.20pm yesterday (Monday 27 August 2018), police attended an address in Liverpool where they arrested the 37-year-old driver.

He was taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with sexual intercourse without consent.

He was given conditional bail and will appear in Liverpool Local Court on 25 October 2018.

One of the conditions is that he must not operate as a ride-share service driver.
