Roads open after serious crash at Elizabeth Downs, SA

Police are searching for a driver of a Mitsubishi sedan who fled the scene of a serious three car crash at Elizabeth Downs this afternoon, according to SA Police.

Police are searching for a driver of a Mitsubishi sedan who fled the scene of a serious three car crash at Elizabeth Downs this afternoon.

Just before 3pm, a silver Mitsubishi Verada sedan collided with two other vehicles at the intersection of Midway Road.

The male driver of the Mitsubishi allegedly ran from the scene, leaving a seriously injured man in the rear of the vehicle.

The injured 29-year-old man from Elizabeth North was trapped in the vehicle for some time before being stabilised by ambulance officers and then rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious condition. His condition is not believed to be life threatening.

Three other people have been taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Northern Traffic Officers are investigating the crash, with the driver of the Mitsubishi not yet located but believed to be known to police.

All traffic on Midway Road was diverted around the crash site for several hours, while south bound traffic on Main North Road was restricted to one lane. Both roads are now open.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the silver Mitsubishi Verada just prior to the collision is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
