Staff Member Charged - Department of Justice

Financial Crimes Squad detectives have charged a 54-year-old female Department of Justice employee as a result of an investigation into alleged unlawful access of restricted information.
The woman is employed in a 'community corrections' position based in Kalgoorlie and it will be alleged between October 2020 and February 2021 she accessed information on four occasions which was not relating to her duties and which is subject of strict legislative controls. This included information relating to herself and three persons known to her.
Staff from the Department of Justice's Professional Standards Division referred the matter to WA Police Force for investigation.
On Monday 15 February 2021 detectives from the Financial Crimes Squad arrested the employee and charged her with four counts of 'Unlawful Use of a Computer'. She is due to appear in the Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court today, Monday 15 March 2021.
