Teen charged after convenience store robbed in Armidale

A teenager has been charged following an armed robbery in Armidale last week, NSW Police say.

About 7pm on Friday (6 July 2018), four males armed with knives allegedly threatened a staff member and demanded cash at a convience store on Queen Elizabeth Drive.

The group allegedly stole cash and cigarettes before leaving the area.

Officers from New England Police District established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the incident.

About 9.40pm on Saturday (7 July 2018), a 17-year-old boy presented at Armidale Police Station, where he was arrested and charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon.

He appeared at a children’s court on Sunday (8 July 2018), where he was granted conditional bail to reappear at a children’s court on Thursday 19 July 2018.

At this time, police do not believe this incident is linked to any other recent matters.

Inquiries are continuing.
