Three people have been charged over alleged gift card fraud of more than $1.5 million across Sydney.
Strike Force Ambleside was established in 2016 by detectives attached to Sydney City Police Area Command to investigate fraud offences throughout the greater Sydney area, NSW Police say.
Following investigations, detectives executed a search warrant at a home in Campsie on Thursday (5 April 2018).
Police located and seized a large number of cigarettes, alcohol, documents, and computers.
Two men, aged 30 and 63, and a 50-year-old woman were arrested at the home and taken to Campsie Police Station.
As a result of further inquiries, officers executed a search warrant at a Petersham storage facility on Friday (6 April 2018).
Police located and seized further cigarettes and documents.
The 30-year-old man was charged with 29 counts of deal with proceeds of crime, the 63-year-old man was charged with 13 counts of deal with proceeds of crime and the 50-year-old woman with 17 counts of deal with proceeds of crime.
Police will allege in court the group were involved in the fraudulent purchase of gift cards online. Which were then used to purchase goods including cigarettes to the value of $1.5 million.
The trio were granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 1 May 2018.
