Michael Ferguson today turned the first sod to prepare the first parcel of land for development at Macquarie Point.
Yes, you read that right.
Shadow Treasurer David O’Byrne said that after five and a half years in Government and seven years after Labor secured the initial $50 million in investment, the community was fed up with the Liberals’ laziness and lack of action at Macquarie Point.
“Michael Ferguson pulled out the hard hat and hi-vis today for yet another media event celebrating doing nothing at Macquarie Point,” Mr O’Byrne said.
“This is a once in a generation opportunity to reinvent Hobart’s waterfront, create much needed jobs, and attract investment.
“Turning a sod to prepare the first parcel of land for development sounds a lot like doing nothing with a shiny ribbon on it.
“The message that needs to get through Will Hodgman and Michael Ferguson’s heads is simple – just get on with it.
“We’ve had enough of media events with little to show for it.
“Tasmanians deserve much better.”
