Parents Urge Panel for Uniform Literacy, Numeracy Methods

The ACT's peak body representing the views of public school parents welcomes the release of the Literacy and Numeracy Education Expert Panel Consultation Report.

ACT Council of Parents & Citizens Associations Executive Officer Veronica Elliott thanked the many parents and carers that came forward, submitted to the inquiry and shared their lived experiences.

"We know that some parents have been raising these concerns for a long time without being acknowledged," she says.

"These families will appreciate seeing their concerns reflected in the expert panel's listening report."

Ms Elliott says parents look forward to the implementation of the panel's recommendations.

"Parents want to be confident that their students access an equitable, quality and consistent education at every school - and not a postcode lottery."

"Our schools can do better to ensure all students reach their potential."

"We want to see the ACT Government and all election candidates showing their support by increasing funding to cover the panel's recommendations for our public education system."
