Police Charge Two Men After Evade In Grovedale

Geelong Divisional Response Unit detectives have charged two men after they allegedly evaded police in Grovedale yesterday.

Police allege a silver Toyota Corolla bearing false plates, was driving erratically on the Surf Coast Highway about 2pm on 6 May.

With the assistance of Air Wing, police monitored the Toyota through Grovedale and near Elaine, along the Midland Highway.

Officers successfully deployed stop sticks on the vehicle in the township of Elaine.

The Toyota continued to drive into Ballarat before coming to a complete stop.

A 25-year-old Brown Hill man has been charged with:

-Dangerous driving whilst being pursued

-Reckless conduct endanger life

-Reckless conduct endanger serious injury

-Theft of motor vehicle

-Handle stolen goods

-Deal with proceeds of crime

-Drive in manner dangerous

-Drive at speed dangerous

-Theft

-Possess controlled weapon

-Possess prohibited weapon

-Fraudulently use registration plate

-Drive whilst disqualified

-Enter intersection against a red traffic light.

He has been remanded to appear before the Ballarat Magistrates' Court on 30 May.

A 22-year-old Leopold man was charged with theft of motor vehicle and theft.

He was bailed to appear before the Geelong Magistrates' Court on 5 July.
