Three popular Port Phillip piers are a step closer to a major revamp as part of the Allan Labor Government's plan to make popular piers and jetties safer and stronger across the state.
Detailed designs to rebuild Dromana Pier, Hampton Pier, and Mornington Fishermans Jetty are now underway following a competitive tender process.
Funded by the Labor Government, these projects will revitalise the precincts, reinstate access for fishing, boating and on-water sports, support local tourism and create local jobs during construction.
Dromana Pier, originally constructed in the 1860s, has been partially closed since 2021. Designs will incorporate feedback from community consultation conducted in 2020.
Community and stakeholder engagement into the future of Hampton Pier and Fishermans Jetty took place as part of local port area planning for Sandringham and Mornington Harbours. The old Hampton Pier and Fishermans Jetty have already been removed to make way for construction.
Final designs for all three jetties are expected to be unveiled later this year.
It's part of the Labor Government's more than $150 million investment into jetty repairs and upgrades since 2018.
Major work is continuing at St Kilda and Rye Piers, while the new Altona Pier has recently opened, with thousands of visitors flocking to the stunning facility over the summer months.

"Designs are underway for not one, but three new piers and jetties in Port Phillip and I can't wait to share the finished designs with the community later this year."
