Two Arrested in Bishopsbourne for Aggravated Armed Robbery

Two people arrested at Bishopsbourne last night have been charged with multiple offences in relation to an aggravated armed robbery at Mole Creek yesterday.

Police will allege that around 3.50pm yesterday, two offenders - a man and a woman – entered a residence at Mole Creek and threatened the occupants with a firearm in a targeted incident.

Police will further allege one of the offenders discharged a firearm into the roof of the residence, before the pair stole several items from the residence and left the scene in a vehicle.

One resident received minor injuries in this incident.

Police, assisted by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, conducted a search for the vehicle which was located in Bishopsbourne. Police searched the vehicle and located several firearms, a quantity of cash, and a quantity of drugs.

Further searches of the area located the woman inside a residence at Bishopsbourne where police will allege she had threatened the residents. The woman was taken into custody. The residents were not physically injured.

Further police searches, assisted by drone operators, located the man in a hedged area at Bishopsbourne where he was taken into custody.

The 36-year-old man from Ravenswood has been charged with Breach firearms prohibition order, Evade police, and unlicensed driving.

The 26-year-old woman from Launceston has been charged with Aggravated Armed Robbery, Firearms related offences x3, Trafficking in controlled substance, Drive while disqualified x 3, Evade Police, Reckless driving, Stealing, Motor Vehicle Stealing, Exceed Speed Limit and Warrant for arrest x2.

Both were detained to appear before the Launceston Magistrates Court today.
