A man will face court charged following the seizure of more than $1.9 million dollars' worth of illegal tobacco and vape products in the state's north this week.
About 8.40am on Thursday 27 November 2025, officers attached to Tweed/Byron Highway Patrol were patrolling the Mid North Coast area when they stopped a hire truck on the Pacific Highway, near Macleay Valley Way, for routine roadside testing.
Following a breath test on a 31-year-old man, police conducted a search of the vehicle and allegedly located a number of boxes.
Police will allege they located and seized a total of 942,040 cigarettes, 15,380 vapes, and 10 kilograms of tobacco pouches, with an estimated street value of $1,961,300.
The vehicle was subsequently seized for further inquiries.
The man was arrested at the scene and taken to Kempsey Police Station where he was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for goods in custody.
He is due to appear at Kempsey Local Court on Friday 29 January 2026.
