North Sydney Council is calling on locals to step up and be part of marathon history, launching a community challenge to recruit 100 volunteers in 100 days.
In the lead-up to the 2025 TCS Sydney Marathon, North Sydney Council has partnered with event organisers to reward Volunteer Champions. Local residents who rally the most volunteers for the marathon start line on Sunday, 31 August 2025.
Three winners will receive free entry into the 2025 TCS Sydney Marathon, now part of the prestigious Abbott World Marathon Majors. All volunteers will get a limited-edition volunteer shirt, ASICS cap, snacks, and exclusive access to a ballot for entry into the 2026 event.
Mayor Zoë Baker today joined TCS Sydney Marathon Race Director, Wayne Larden and Mark Arbib, CEO of the Australian Olympic Committee, to celebrate International Volunteer Week and mark 100 days to go until the 2025 TCS Sydney Marathon.
During the unveiling of new volunteer uniforms, inspired by the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, the Mayor announced the community volunteering challenge.
"Council has partnered with the 2025 TCS Sydney Marathon team to offer race entries to local Volunteer Champions. Three spots will go to those who recruit the biggest volunteer teams to help at the start line on Sunday, 31 August 2025.
With 1 in 6 residents already volunteering, we expect a huge response. What better time to launch the race to find 100 volunteers than during International Volunteer Week?
Each year, the North Sydney community supports race day as spectators, participants, and volunteers. We take pride in being the starting place for this iconic race.
Not only does it provide a significant economic boost to the area. It also inspires people to get outside, be active, and connect with each other."
