10kg of 'ice' located and seized; two men arrested at Chinderah

More than 10kg of the drug 'ice' has been seized during a vehicle stop on the state's Far North Coast.

About 4pm yesterday (Sunday 15 September 2019), officers attached to Traffic & Highway Patrol stopped a black Audi A4 on the M1 near the Tweed Valley Way interchange, Chinderah, where they spoke with two 32-year-old men.

Upon a search of the vehicle, police allegedly located a black sports bag in the boot with 10 bags inside, containing methylamphetamine – with a combined weight of more than 10kg.

Both men were arrested and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station.

The driver – a 32-year-old Moorebank man – was charged with supply prohibited drug large commercial quantity and possess prohibited drug. He was refused bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court today (Monday 16 September 2019).

A 32-year-old Alexandria man was charged with possess prohibited drug. He was granted conditional bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court on Monday 21 October 2019.

Investigations are ongoing.
