11kg Meth Seized, Three Charged in Clan Lab Raids

Three men have been charged after 11kg of methylamphetamine was seized when two clandestine labs were raided in Sydney's south yesterday.

Emergency services responded to reports of smoke coming from a unit on Regent Street, Chippendale, about 6.30am yesterday (Tuesday 27 January 2026),

A 44-year-old man was located unresponsive inside the unit and taken outside, where the man regained consciousness and allegedly ran from the scene before police arrived.

Officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command entered the unit and located an active clandestine laboratory.

They arrested a 43-year-old man at the scene; police will three grams of methylamphetamine was found in his possession. That man was taken to Day Street Police Station.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the incident commenced.

Following inquiries, officers attached to Central Metropolitan Region's Region Enforcement Squad (RES) South stopped a a vehicle on Hume Highway at Liverpool about 10.30am, and arrested a 44-year-old man, who is alleged to have left the Chippendale unit four hours earlier. During a search of the vehicle, police allegedly located about 2kg of methylamphetamine.

Just after 4pm, strike force detectives executed a search warrant at a unit on Coward Street, Mascot, where a second active clandestine laboratory was located as well as several firearms.

A 38-year-old man was arrested at the scene, and he was taken to Liverpool Police Station.

In total, police seized about 11kg of methylamphetamine, which has an alleged estimated potential street value of $1,100,000.

The 43-year-old man has been charged with possess prohibited drug, found on/entering/leaving drug premises, and supply prohibited drug more than/equal to large commercial quantity.

The 44-year-old man has been charged with supply prohibited drug more than/equal to large commercial quantity, and owner/occupier knowingly allow use as drug premises.

The 38-year-old man has been charged with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, use prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order, supply prohibited drug over indictable and under commercial quantity, and owner/occupier knowingly allow use as drug premises.

All three men have been refused bail, with the two younger men to appear before Bail Division Court 7 and the older man to appear at Liverpool Local Court later today (Wednesday 28 January 2026).

Central Metropolitan Region's Region Enforcement Squad (RES) South established Strike Force Afton in November 2025 to investigate criminal groups allegedly involved in the manufacture and supply of methylamphetamine.

Inquiries under Strike Force Afton continue.
