14-year-old boy charged after scooter crash at Albury

A 14-year-old boy will appear in court today after a scooter crash in Albury.

About 12.10am today (Thursday 4 April 2019), police were called to Wagga Road at Lavington, following reports a scooter had collided with a street light.

The driver, a 14-year-old boy, and passenger, a 15-year-old girl, were thrown from the vehicle.

The girl was taken to Albury Base Hospital with serious leg injuries.

The boy fled the scene and was arrested by officers from Murray River Police District in the backseat of a nearby vehicle.

He was charged with negligent driving, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, driver never licensed, driver or rider state false name or home address, fail to stop and assist after impact, and rider without helmet ride with one passenger without helmet.

The boy was refused bail and will appear at a local court today (Thursday 4 April 2019).
