179 cannabis plants seized in Wollongong

Two men will face court after a hydroponic house was allegedly discovered in Wollongong, NSW Police say.

About 3.30pm yesterday (Monday 25 June 2018), police attended a home on Cabbage Tree Lane, Fairy Meadow, following an investigation into the supply of cannabis.

A crime scene warrant was executed by officers from Wollongong Police District.

A hydroponic house was allegedly located at the premises and 34 plants were seized.

Two men, aged 22 and 27, were arrested at the scene and taken to Wollongong Police Station.

Following further inquiries, about 8am today (Tuesday 26 June 2018), police executed a crime scene warrant at a home on Hercules Street, Wollongong.

Police will allege a hydroponic house was located at the premises and 145 cannabis plants were seized.

The men were charged with eight offences;

  • Enhanced indoor cultivation for commercial purpose
  • Organises/conducts/assists drug premises x2
  • Take part enhanced indoor cultivate cannabis commercial x2
  • Use electricity without authority x2
  • Deal with proceeds of crime

The pair were refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Tuesday 26 June 2018).
