1987 Springvale cold case homicide arrest

Homicide Squad Cold Case detectives, with the assistance of Western Australia Police, have arrested a man in Perth in relation to the murder of 27-year-old Springvale woman Ranny Yun, Victoria Police say.

Ranny’s body was discovered in her Springvale home on 15 October, 1987.

Despite an exhaustive investigation over many years the case remained unsolved.

As a result of a cold case review, investigators identified a person of interest residing in Perth.

With the assistance of the Western Australia Police Cold Case Homicide Squad, investigators travelled to Perth yesterday and interviewed a 49-year-old Thornlie man.

He was charged with murder and will be the subject of an extradition application to be heard at Perth Magistrates’ Court shortly.
