20-month-old girl dies after being struck by 4WD at Corowa

An infant has died after being struck by a vehicle on a property in the state's south yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Enfield Street, Corowa – about 60km west of Albury – about 5pm (Wednesday 20 May 2020) after reports a 20-month-old girl was struck by a Toyota Hilux 4WD in the driveway of the property.

Despite attempts to revive the infant, she died at the scene.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic police.

The driver of the vehicle – a 74-year-old man – was arrested and taken to hospital for mandatory testing, before being taken to Corowa Police Station to assist police with inquiries.

He has been released pending further investigations.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
