2019 TAFE SA offers released following clean bill of health from training authority

Offers for 2019 TAFE SA courses have been published today, with a total of 12,144 applications received for the January round of offers and 8,133 placement offers made.

The most popular courses this year include Nursing and Pathology, which attracted 1234 applications, Children's Education and Care (954 applications), Business and Administration (779 applications) and Aged and Disability Services (713 applications).

Today's round of offers come after TAFE SA received a clean bill of health from the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) late last year.

In December, the Government announced that no sanctions were applied to any of the 16 qualifications audited in ASQA's final report.

Education Minister John Gardner said the increase in applications this year shows that the community's confidence in TAFE SA is being restored.

"This year, people receiving offers for placements at TAFE SA can have full confidence that they will be receiving high quality training that meets the standards required," said Minister Gardner.

"The Marshall Liberal Government is delivering a fresh start for TAFE, focused on meeting the needs of both South Australians seeking the skills they need to build their careers and the local industry that is seeking a skilled workforce.

"The delivery of ASQA's final audit report last month represents a significant milestone in restoring the community's confidence in TAFE.

"In communications following the audit, ASQA noted a marked improvement in quality since the previous audit of 2017.

"The Government is committed to providing South Australians the strong public training provider they deserve; one that sets a benchmark for quality in vocational education in our state.

"TAFE SA's continuous improvement program will ensure the education and training it provides meets the rigorous standards of all regulatory bodies and the expectations of its students, who aspire to graduate into terrific careers at the end of their courses."

New courses offered by TAFE SA this year include a Certificate IV in Cyber Security, a Diploma of Social Media Marketing and an Advanced Diploma of Performing Arts (Acting).

Around 40 new short courses have also been launched in areas including wine and viticulture, cookery, conservation and land management, performing arts and fashion.
