2022 Australia Day Award nominations now open

Devonport City Council Tasmania

Nominations are now open for Devonport City Council's 2022 Australia Day Awards.

The Australia Day Awards are an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate our local heroes and to honour those individuals and groups who have given their time and energy to the Devonport community.

Award categories include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year.

Devonport Mayor, Councillor Annette Rockliff said the awards present a timely opportunity to reflect and celebrate the contribution that people make to our community.

"We look forward to these annual awards that celebrate individuals and events that make Devonport a richer community.

"Australia Day may seem a little while off, but nominations close on Wednesday 1 December, so now is the time to start collecting information on the person or event that you wish to nominate.

"Nominating is easy, via an online form available on the Council website," said Cr Rockliff.

The awards are open to residents of the Devonport local government area. Young Citizen of the Year nominees must be aged under 30 years of age on 26 January 2022.

The 2021 winners were: Citizen of Year - Bruce and Alida Beattie, Young Citizen of the Year - Oliver Bailey, and Community Event of the Year - International Café.

Nominations for the 2022 awards close Wednesday, 1 December 2021.
