2025 NSW Touch Football State Cup Kicks Off Friday

Port Macquarie-Hastings

The 2025 NSW Touch Football (NSWTF) State Cup is set to be one of the largest and most prestigious events on the Touch Football calendar, with the competition taking place from December 5-7 at Port Macquarie's Regional Stadium and Tuffins Lane Sporting Fields.

With 58 affiliates, 241 teams, 300 referees, and more than 6,000 participants and spectators, this year's State Cup promises to deliver world-class action and showcase some of the best Touch Football talent in the world.

The event will bring together players from across New South Wales, as well as elite athletes hoping to press their selection claims to represent NSWTF at the beginning of 2027 State of Origin selection cycle and secure national selection for the 2026 international series.

NSWTF General Manager Dean Russell expressed his excitement for the event, highlighting its significance in the Touch Football community.

"We're honoured to celebrate the 48th edition of the State Cup in Port Macquarie, and what makes it even more special is that it's our 36th consecutive year here at the spiritual home of the sport in NSW," Mr Russell said.

"The State Cup is much more than a tournament, it is the cornerstone of community, competition and connection, and Port Macquarie is very much part of that community. We're again excited to bring the very best touch footballers in the world to this familiar venue, and to continue growing the legacy of touch football in New South Wales. We are especially looking forward to welcoming our friends from Japan and Singapore to this year's edition of the State Cup."

The event will culminate on Sunday, December 7, with the highly anticipated Women's and Men's State Championship finals, where the best of the best will compete for the coveted titles.

This is the final year of the current contract between NSW Touch and Port Macquarie Hastings Council to host this great event, with the tender for future hosting rights to open soon.

PMHC is hopeful that our proven successful history of hosting this event, large accommodation capacity, and advancements to prioritise funding options to upgrade drainage at Tuffins Lane Sporting Fields will put the region in good stead to remain the home for NSW Touch in the future.

Council also recently completed the replacement of 1000 seats at the Port Macquarie Regional Stadium, thanks to $297,582 funding from the NSW Government.

"Council has prioritised the Tuffins Lane drainage project, including Environmental Impact Statement and development approvals (DA), as a key sporting-infrastructure project. Council is currently working on how and when we can fund this important upgrade to the broader precinct," Mayor Adam Roberts said.

"Our end goal is to improve drainage at the site to reduce field downtime so that Tuffins Lane Sporting Fields can reliably host major tournaments like the State Cup Touch and better serve our growing local sporting community year-round."
