The Mitchell Shire community welcomed new Australian citizens and announced Community Award recipients in a ceremony held in Seymour.
The annual Council event was hosted by the Rotary Club of Seymour, who were selected after an expression of interest process.
The 2026 Mitchell Shire Community Award recipients are:
- Citizen of the Year: Kenneth Hall
- Young Citizen of the Year: Sam Quigg and Max Chetcuti
- Community Event of the Year: Kilmore Regional Busking Championships
- Community Group of the Year: 1st Broadford Scout Group
- Sports Person of the Year: Helen Mahoney
- Arts Person of the Year: Pauline Taylor
- Access and Inclusion Champion: Chloe Hall
