A man will face court charged following an alleged pursuit on the Central Coast this morning.
About 9.25am (Monday 16 February 2026), police were conducting stationary speed enforcement duties on the M1 at Mardi when a vehicle passed police at an alleged estimated speed of no less than 150km/h.
Subsequent inquiries revealed that the SUV had allegedly been stolen from a home in Gosford overnight.
Officers signalled for the driver to stop, and when the driver failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued for several minutes to Halloran where the pursuit was terminated due to the manner of driving and police lost sight of the vehicle.
A short time later, police came across an incident on the M1 at Bushells Ridge.
At the scene, police were told the SUV had side-swiped another northbound vehicle, forcing both vehicles into the centre median strip.
The driver of the SUV left the scene on foot and a search commenced with the assistance of PolAir.
The driver of the other vehicle was assessed at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and did not report any injuries.
During a search, police arrested a 19-year-old man at Wyee Railway Station about 10.40am.
