$2M Boost for Safer Echuca, Kyabram Streets

Kyabram Allan Street

Campaspe Shire Council is proud to announce the successful funding for vital road safety projects under the Victorian Government's Safe Local Roads and Streets Program (SLRSP). With a total funding agreement of $2 million, these projects will deliver significant safety upgrades for local communities in Echuca, Echuca Village and Kyabram.

Campaspe Shire Mayor, Cr Daniel Mackrell expressed gratitude for the funding, noting these upgrades will deliver safer, more accessible streets for residents and visitors.

"These upgrades will deliver real improvements for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers alike. We look forward to seeing these upgrades make a positive difference in Echuca and Kyabram," Cr Mackrell said.

Projects will include:

Allan St & Bradley St, Kyabram – Raised Priority Crossings

This project will upgrade existing zebra crossings to raised pedestrian crossings, with two new crossings on Allan Street near the Union Street roundabout and one on Bradley Street near the Union Street car park. These raised pedestrian crossings will slow traffic and improve safety for all road users.

Simmie Rd & Mitchell Rd, Echuca – Intersection Upgrade

This project will install raised platforms on the Mitchell Road approach to the intersection, to slow vehicles and enhance visibility, making the intersection safer for everyone.

Council is also working with funding partners to progress additional potential project locations. These projects are made possible through the Safe Local Roads and Streets Program, funded by the Victorian Government's Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) and the Transport Accident Commission (TAC).
