An elderly man has died following a crash west of Sydney earlier this week.
About 9.45am on Monday (9 February 2026), emergency services were called to the Great Western Highway, South Bowenfels, following reports of a crash.
Officers attached to the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attended and found a sedan and an SUV had collided.
The driver of the SUV - a 43-year-old man - was uninjured.
The driver of the sedan - a 91-year-old man - was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment.
Police commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Last night (Tuesday 10 February 2026), police were notified the man had died in hospital.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
