$36K gold necklace stolen from Werribee

Police are appealing for public assistance after a gold necklace valued at $36,000 was stolen from a jewellery store in Werribee earlier this month.

Investigators have been told a man entered the store at a shopping centre on Heaths Road and asked to view a 9-carat gold 55cm curb necklace on Thursday, 7 April about 10am.

The man then left the store without paying for the necklace and drove away in a black Nissan Navara utility displaying allegedly false registration plates A9B9AC.

Investigators have released images of a man and vehicle that may be able to assist with the investigation.

He is described as Caucasian, about 170cm tall with short dark hair and a medium build. He was wearing spectacles, a blue face mask, fluorescent orange jacket, khaki pants and black Nike shoes.
